Philippines jails Many inmates, staff test positive for COVID 19

Jails in the Philippines are among the most overcrowded in the world, and that is making it difficult to manage the spread of the novel coronavirus. Several inmates have tested positive, along with some prison staff. Analysts say, unless conditions change, the number of cases will rise.

Hungry and homeless Philippine jeepney drivers hit by coronavirus

Hungry and homeless Philippine jeepney drivers hit by coronavirus

Forced off the road by coronavirus lockdowns, Philippine “jeepney” drivers are now plying the streets of Manila on foot begging for money to feed themselves and their families. Jeepneys — first made from leftover US jeeps after World War II — are the backbone of the country’s transport system, but many drivers are now out of work after the months-long virus restrictions crippled the Philippines’ economy.

COVID 19 In The Philippines – the lockdown is causing more deaths than the coronavirus – CNA documentary The people in the Philippines are suffering from one of the toughest and longest lockdowns in the world. As the government struggles to deal with the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, the ultra-strict quarantine and social distancing measures which have now stretched to more than half a year, have left the economy on its knees. The move has also left millions of people jobless and hungry. The dire situation has now pushed millions of people to the brink of starvation. Why did the pandemic hit the poorest of poor so hard? With the Philippine economy slipping into its worst recession in decades, can the poor pull themselves out from the crushing poverty? Will their cries for help be heard?

Lockdown Update from the Philippines 😊

On Monday April 6, 2020 President Duterte informed us that the quarantine will be extended from initially 1 month until April 30. This makes it 45 days. Although nobody gets any financial support here in the Philippines, we are forced to stay inside our homes.

The president warned us that when people are walking outside the police is allowed to “shoot to kill”. Of course this is going to create some major problems if this goes on for much longer. Already noticed some people ignoring the warnings of staying inside .. trying to make some money, so they can purchase some food.
At the moment people are staying calm where I am living … however not sure if this will be the case in the big cities. Just imagine being forced to stay inside without food and no support. Some don’t even have water to wash themselves. You understand if this goes on much longer it is going to cause some major problems.

Now the question is of course .. what does the Bible say about this? What would Jesus do?
We all know the verse in Romans 13:1-7 NKJV:
“13Β Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2Β Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”

Now of course we don’t want to bring judgment on ourselves, but does that mean we just accept what is happening right now? I think this is the issue many Christians are facing or will be facing soon. Let me know .. what do you think is right? Should we submit and for how long and of course why not or why yes?

By the way .. have an awesome EASTER ✝. Remember the Risen Lord. Rejoice!! πŸ™Œ Here a little song that reminds us of the goodness of Jesus.

Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks for your continued support of our Support A Child Program .. BIG help!!

Lots of love ❀️ from the Philippines,

Covid19 Update from the Philippines πŸ˜ƒ

How are you doing? It looks like many countries are joining the Philippines in a lockdown.

Here in the Philippines we are in our 3rd week. The President even informed the police .. “shoot to kill” .. guess President Duterte is trying to make the point .. that he is taking this lockdown serious and that people need to stay inside.

Beside being bored πŸ₯± and not having an income .. most people here also don’t have water .. it is summer … so that means our water is rationed ..

Now you can imagine .. that being in a situation like this .. can play tricks on your mind .. correct? .. with all the countries shutting down and going crazy .. fear can creep into your heart or you can start worrying .. sounds familiar? .. since I am human .. I have the same .. it just remind me of this song ..

However, the Bible says: “6Β Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7Β and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Now we probably all know God is not a fan of fear or worries .. since that is not faith .. so He told us .. when you start worrying you are meditating on the wrong thing .. but that is easier said than done .. how can you change your mind? How can you focus on something that is different than all this fear the world is trying to put on you?

Very simple .. at least it works for me .. when you notice that fear creeps into your heart or you start worrying about this coronavirus .. start praying or in other words .. lift up your hands and worship HIM ..
Here is a song to get started .. just join in and sing out LOUD 🎢 ..

I recommend you to sing loud .. it is very important to have more noise coming out of your mouth than in your mind ..

Now how did that make you feel? Did the peace of God enter your heart? It helps me every time .. hope it helps you too.

Enjoy this time at home with family .. stay at home as much as possible and be sure to do some social distancing when you are outside. Enjoy this extra time you can have with God.

Let me know how you are doing? Love to hear from you. ❀️

Lots of love from the Philippines.
Arthur Peter 😊
